Gilberto de Queiroz

Gilberto de Queiroz started his musical studies with conductor Nedir Salomão (PR) and Nehemias Carneiro (PR) at the age of ten. He played in musical bands until he was 18 years old. Then he conducted the marching band of CEFET-(Curitiba-PR) in state and national competitions, which he won. At this time, he was an instrumentalist with UFPR´s Juvenile Orchestra, with Novo Ateneu Marching Band and then with Champagnat´s Metal and Percussion Orchestra. He later became a trombone teacher at Champagnat
He majored in music from Universidade Estadual de Londrina and kept on his trombone studies under the guidance of Neilson de Jesus (OSUEL), Gail Wilson (USA), Radegundis Feitosa (UFPB), Valter Cruz (Jazz Sinfônica), Benjamin Harrinton (USA) and Silvio Spolaore (OSINPA).
He studied arrangement techniques with Mário Loureiro (UEL) and Valtel Branco (RJ), harmony with Rafael dos Santos (UNICAMP), Ian Guest (MG), Roberto Saltini (USP) and Henrique, from Curitiba (PR) and conducting with conductors Luci Schmith and Heloísa Castello Branco.
He has taken in the recording of several classical and popular records, as well as the recording of soundtracks for movies and dancing events. He has been a conductor and musical director for several musical groups in Londrina. He was a teacher of trombone and big band practice in the first and second musical festival of Ourinhos.
Currently he is the conductor in charge of the Chamber Orchestra and of the Big Band of Escola Musical de Ourinhos. He is also a trombonist with Quinteto Metais do Paraná, with Quinteto London Bass, Big Band Municipal de Londrina. He also plays bass in the Londrina Jazz Trio.
